The little Sugar Rat scurries along a
collection of psychoactive tracks,
nibbling at the brain, delving deeper
into the consciousness and all without
the help of chemical substances! From
the laid back country quality of Out TV
Luv to the toyful play on words in
Serious Zero, moving to the futuristic
haunting quality of Apveex11 and x12
and finally onto the joyous beauty of
Hail Bright Ophelia, Plum Flower
Embroidery once again proves that it is
virtually impossible to classify his music
into any one genre. Is it Trance?
Psychedelic? Rock? Ambient? Folk?
Who knows? And that’s just as it
should be....
Recorded on ‘The Island’ in 2008. With
tracks freshly squeezed from the tears
of elves, Island Nation offers a plethora
of magical delights. Acoustic Guitars,
Ukeles, maracas, harmonicas abound
all blending effortlessly with various
samples, korgs and enough odd
sounds to have you scratching your
head and wondering ‘where the heck
does that come from?! Relax, delve in
deep and enjoy, the elves will be
pleased!
Not for the faint hearted nor
humourless! Sunday Night IC gather
and create spontaneous, freeform
music. This somehow develops into
coherent music that resembles
something akin to what a modern day
progressive psychedelic rock jazz fest
might sound like. Just come on in, lay
back on the grass, kick off your shoes
and cast all sensibilities aside. They
also have a rather nice horn…

The White and The Plum combine their
insanely creative talents to create a
unique sound that oozes blues,
country, haunting melodies and a good
ole dash of humour to boot.  The
music transforms us to a place where
we find the unusual and usual blending
together to make some senseless
sense and wonderful vibes! Fom the
enchanting kazoo duet on Pitch That
Man, the oozing sensuality on White
Nicotine, the haunting instrumentalism
of Late of the Stars through to the
sheer madness of Santa Vs White
Plum has something for everyone. If
you like your plum's white then come
and take a bite out of their world.
Hours of Odin brings together a
combination of the light and dark that Plum
does so well. Odin presents a number of
tracks from the early Plum Flower fruit
basket with a few fresher plums popped in.
Here we see the mixture of instrumental
and vocal performances that creates the
atmosphere and vivid imagery Plum Flower
does so well. The searching frankness and
honesty presented in Kisses shows his
voice at its' finest, whilst instrumental tracks
such as the Blurr of Man, Cold Drum and
Playing on a Dry Lake show Plum at his
most experimental and the haunting beauty
of SI seems to bring alive the music
creating fairytale imagery. The final fruit,
Hellocopter, brings with it an appreciation
for the element of creative humour within
music that should never be lost!
Quantum Soul Machine takes us into
the realms of the dreamworld. Etheral
soundscapes of fantasy and sci fi
resound transporting us through the
universe and beyond. Instrumental
tracks such as QSM, Stick World, God
Computer and Talking Hat all conjure
up fantastical imagery taking us
through the industrial landscape of a
future that could be. Vocal stand out
tracks such as Cannibal God, bring
about an immense darkness and
gripping quality with haunting vocals
that will leave you wondering what
became of Ursula and her God. Who
needs a spaceship or time machine
when a CD or MP3 will do?!
Knives bursts forth with tales of legend
and myth. Love, fear, sadness and
happiness are abound with contrasts
of light and dark ever present. Winter
Queen brings a laid back approach
with vocals oozing out like treacle
being poured over a snowy revine,
whilst emotions of sadness and pique
are stirred in the eerie and beautiful
Swimmer. The Ambassodor creeps up
behind us with a stirring and haunting
piano piece before we are brought
back into the light with Serpentine, a
breezy acoustic track bringing
memories of being kissed by a gentle
breeze whilst laying back in the
summer sun. So come closer, the
knives are being sharpened, just for
you....
'Don't worry no one can escape from
here'  Neutral Sons frighteningly
reassure us as they combine the
uniquely creative, experimental sounds
of Richard Knutson, with the dashing
60's rock sounds of Mark Cottrell so
beautifully that you will not want to
escape! This first CD conjures up a
sound brimming full of swooping
guitars, swirling keyboards and
wonderful psychedelic imagery.  Lyrics
are imaginatively inspired and sung by
both sons, with Mark heralding in a
calming soulful sweetness, as Richard
ushers in a hauntingly ethereal
soundscape that can only leave one
waiting {im}patiently for future work....
